I’ve never been a “watch girl”. Yes. I’m obsessed with bracelets, but watches? Not so much. Since I usually check the time on my phone, I’ve never thought of wearing a watch as necessary. I’m also not a techie when it comes to fashion, either. Unless a wearable gadget is super simple to figure out (or one of my friends has one and shows me how to use it), I won’t think twice about purchasing my own.
However, recently I got my hands on a Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch. I was curious how intuitive this watch would be, and wondered if I’d like it. After playing around with the watch, I concluded that I do like the Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch for many reasons. Like myself, you may be hesitant to purchase tech accessories. In today’s post, I’m featuring this smartwatch and sharing my first impressions.

Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch Review: Design
My first impression of this watch is that I love the design! I’m wearing the Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch in white silicon, and I think the white and gold combo is very chic and classy! The watch looks and feels expensive, and is surprisingly slim considering all the technology that’s packed into it.
In terms of sizing, I’d say my wrist is on the smaller side. Yet I was able to fasten the watch comfortably using the last hole in the strap. Since it is a smartwatch, I appreciate the oversize watch face. You can clearly see all the icons, and making selections on the touchscreen interface is easy and intuitive!
The watch has a contemporary feel that is perfect for pairing with work outfits. Worn with a streamlined white pencil skirt and a pinstripe blazer vest, you have a professional meets sexy outfit that’s perfect for after-5 cocktails. While at work, wear a camisole underneath so the vest isn’t revealing! 😉 Believe it or not, both this vest and the skirt are from thrift stores.
This smartwatch is also great for casual outfits, too. You can easily wear it with a loose knit tee, thin layered necklaces, and distressed jeans for a cool weekend look.
Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch Review: Startup
If there’s one thing I was concerned about with this watch, it was the startup process. But seriously you guys, getting started with this smartwatch is so easy! The charging cord comes with the watch, and all you have to do is charge the watch at least 20% before using it. There’s no plug-in hole for the cord on the watch. The charging device is actually a circular magnet that you stick on the back of the watch face, and the watch absorbs power that way. The charging magnet is very modern and convenient! 😀
Once the watch is charged, the interface guides you with instructions on connecting your iPhone to the watch. As you swipe through the steps, you’ll get comfortable with the touch screen. Here are the connection steps:
- Download the Android Wear app from the app store.
- Sync the watch to your phone by enabling Bluetooth in your phone settings. This is what allows you to receive notifications on your watch. The watch can also sync with your Google calendar to send you alerts.
Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch Review: Features
As soon as the watch synced, I started playing with the watch functions. You can customize the watch face with different options, which is a neat feature. The default is “Digital” but I quickly settled on “Original Boyfriend” as a stylish alternative.
Another awesome feature is the Fitness Tracker. First, set your goal in the watch. Then, measure how many steps you take per day. With this watch on, I’m motivated to take more study breaks just to increase my step count and catch fresh air!
My other favorite feature is the weather forecast. You can click on the Weather button to see the current forecast. Then, scroll down to see the weekly forecast. The watch syncs with your GPS so it knows your current city, but you can change that too if you want!
A big pro of this watch is receiving real-time notifications on your wrist. You don’t have to reach into your bag constantly to check your texts, or read your emails. When you get a notification, all you have to do is swipe and scroll to read the full message. For a person constantly on the run, this feature is very convenient.
You’ll even get notifications when there’s a new system update available, too!
Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch Review: Price
This watch ranges from $255 to $295, depending on where you buy it. Considering the quality of the design, along with all the tech features, I would say this watch is worth the price you pay. Keep in mind, the Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch has a ton of additional features. These were just a few of my favorites, and ones that I regularly use. With this wearable, you can also set alarms, track your sleep, take a photo, and control your music!
So that’s my Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch review! If you are considering the purchase of a wearable smartwatch, I highly recommend the Q Wander by Fossil! The set-up process is simple and quick, and you’ll be amazed by everything this watch can do. For someone who wants to feel connected, this watch is wonderful. You’ll receive instant updates while looking both stylish and modern.
If you can’t justify spending over $250 on a watch for yourself, maybe suggest it as a graduation gift? With the Fossil Q Wander Smartwatch, you’ll certainly be the most fashionable and tech savvy girl in the office at your first job!
