Red is the season’s hottest color for fall. From Max Mara, to Fendi, to Valentino, red was the featured color at the F/W 17 shows. Monochromatic red runway looks may not be your cup of tea, but don’t worry! To stand out this season, it’s all about highlighting one major garment or accessory in a vibrant scarlet or crimson color.
With that said, here’s 5 ways how to look ravishing in red!
The Red Hat
You guys know how much I love wearing hats, especially my wide-brim black Forever 21 hat. Since cooler weather is ideal to wear felt hats, I’m excited to step up my hat game with new colors. First up on my list of colors to try? Red! I think a red hat is so unique, and you’ll definitely stand out by wearing such a daring color. This red floppy hat actually belonged to my mom. Since it didn’t have a band on it, I added my own red satin tie for a special Ashley touch!
The Red Blazer
As an alternative to black, I love the idea of a statement-making red blazer. I’d agree it’s not the most practical for professional work settings. I once read that red is the worst color you can wear to an interview, because it can make you come off as aggressive. However, a red blazer is a wonderful item for when the impression you’re making isn’t a top concern.
For example, my favorite way to wear a red blazer is with distressed jeans and a statement tee. I invested in this red blazer from Banana Republic Factory Store prior to 2015. A red blazer was on my closet wish-list for years, and I finally found one at the right price (bless that employee discount! 😀 ) Since then, this red blazer has easily become one of my all-time favorite items. Thanks to the gold-military style buttons and classic fit, it’s a timeless item I’ll keep for ages.
The Red Bag
Perfect for the holiday season, a red bag is also a timeless item to invest in. Go for a structured shape, like that of this red Michael Kors bag, for a chic, classy look. During fall, wear a red bag to add a pop of color to your neutral-schemed looks. If you ask me, a red bag looks even better when paired with red lipstick!
The Red Sweatshirt
Fall is the season we all look forward to. We can finally cozy up in cute sweatshirts, like this red sweatshirt that reads ‘LOVE’. For a casual meets preppy ensemble, layer a red sweatshirt over a polka-dot button down and a flirty, pleated skirt. Transition into fall with peep toe booties, and top your look with a denim cap. P.S. remember this hat from my August 2017 Edit?
The Red Dress
Who doesn’t love a flattering A-line dress in a gorgeous shade of red? This dress is from Kohl’s ELLE collection, and the windowpane check is so chic for fall. For an elegant look, wear a red dress with a quilted black clutch, gold statement earrings, and pointy-toe pumps. Cover up cold shoulders with a lightweight Portofino from Express.
